Frans van Houten, MSc
Frans van Houten serves as a member of our board of directors since June 2023. He has over 30 years of experience in technology businesses and is passionate about innovation that makes an impact in the world. Currently Frans serves as Board member of Novartis, next to being a board member and advisor of three Healthcare IT start-ups.
Frans was CEO of Royal Philips between 2012 and 2022. Under his tenure the company transformed into a leading health technology solutions company, leveraging data and informatics to improve healthcare provider results. Prior to this, Frans was CEO of NXP Semiconductors. He was co-chair of the World Economic Forum in 2017, initiator of the Compact for Responsive and Responsible Leadership and founder and co-chair of the Platform to Accelerate the Circular Economy.
Earlier in his career, he held various leadership positions with Philips, with postings in Belgium, USA, Singapore and Germany. Frans holds a MSc in Economics and Business from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In support of his university, Frans has co-founded a seed fund and mentoring ecosystem for tech startups in the Netherlands. Frans is Dutch and is based in the Netherlands.
